Thanks!

I wanted to be sure and thank some important people for making my clowning weekend possible. Thanks to Angel Ocasio- an amazing teacher, the generous folks at Portland Rose Festival, all my wonderful new clown friends from class (you guys are SOOOO funny!), my parents for coming all the way from Eastern Washington to help out with the kids (and manage to do some remodeling/landscaping/housecleaning as well!), to Kate and Alan for sending me off with big hugs and smiles each day of class, and last but not least, thanks Dan for telling me I make a beautiful clown.
Thank you thank you thank you!

I'm a clown!

Well, this is official. I am now a Joey! What? Yep, I'm a clown. A Joey is clown speak for a person becoming a clown for the first time! I'm doing the Clown Corps for the Portland Rose Festival. I applied, interviewed, and yes, got accepted into the first ever Rose Festival Character Clown Corps! Our teacher is Angel Ocasio. He's funny, super nice, and full of energy. There are 18 of us. Some of the clowns have a bit of experience in entertaining, but plenty of us are brand new at this whole thing. We just finished our three day class, and what a fantastic time! I love all the other clowns- each of us truly blossomed as our clown over the weekend. My character evolved over the three days. The first day I got to be the "whiteface" makeup model. The second day I was Suzy Q, with a face of my own creation and a wig. Day three (today!) I found the perfect hat and think my name might be Sally (or Gracie?). I'll post some pictures for you to enjoy. I'm looking forward to being in the Key Bank Grand Floral Parade on June 7th. See you at there?! I hope to post more about my adventures as a clown so check the blog for updates!
